The lovely ladies of Utterly Engaged are hosting an amazing event called Fizz & Frills this coming Sunday, September 9 at Pandora on Green in Pasadena.

One of the participants on Sunday is the brilliant jewelry designer Carla Labat of Camille K. Camille K has just introduced a new collection “Ceremony” made specifically for the bride.

I had the honor of travelling up to Carla’s atelier in Mountain View to photograph her headshot, some of her jewelry and items there that inspire her to make these amazing pieces.

You can check out Camille K’s Ceremony collection here.

You can purchase tickets to Fizz & Frills here.

Back in the day…………….

The side of the Brunswick-Balke-Collender Company building in downtown Los Angeles. Once the manufacturer of bowling balls, pins, equipment, billiards and phonographs.

I was shooting a rooftop garden next door when I captured this image.

It is now a photography and event space called Brunswick Studio.

I Think I Have a New Addiction

I think I have a new addiction.

I consider myself a very impatient person and eBay makes me inpatient (having to wait for the auction to end).

I discovered vintage items on Etsy and you get to the purchase an item immediately if you like it (no waiting and no worries about how much you will pay for it). So putting in the words “Vintage Birthday Book” came up with a lot of books and I purchased a lot of them.

One of the prettiest is this Shakespeare Birthday Book which is from 1892.

I Love What I Do

IMG_0054

I shot some stuff just for me yesterday including this image. I love being able to use some of my vintage items in my photography. In this photo it includes a vintage bride and groom cake topper, a swatch of vintage wallpaper and “April” was from a 1951 datebook.

I love what I do.

Cute Kids and Families Headshots Uncategorized

Aidan Maxwell Walter

I went to junior high school and high school with Mark Walter and Robin Zander. Mark and Robin are now married and Robin brought Aidan to me recently for new headshots.

I’ve never had the experience until now of two people I knew as a kid having a child themselves.

It’s like seeing Robin and Mark as I remember them as kids all mixed into one kid — Aidan!!

After School Sessions: ASCAP Foundation and America Scores

ASCAP and America Scores teamed up for the fourth year to present its national songwriting mentorship program, ASCAP Songwriter Residency @ America Scores.

I was honored when ASCAP asked me to document the three days kids from Palms Middle School worked with animator Roger Blonder and composer Shawn Clement. The students teamed up with the educators from America Scores and wrote a group poem on the meaning of “Love.” Blonder worked with the students to envision, animate and record the digital imagery that was assembled into a poetry-based experimental film.

I created a slideshow with highlights from the three days I was there. You can view it below or click here.

The completed experimental film was put on youTube and there was three versions of the film (same footage, different music written by Shawn). I liked Version 2 best. Click below or here to view.

Station 26 – Santa Monica Beach – Holgaroid Image

As many of you know I’m working on a Santa Monica project. I went to my favorite lifeguard station yesterday, Station 26, but realized once I got there that I forgot a necessary piece of equipment to shoot it TTV. So instead I whipped out my Holgaroid camera and shot this image.

Being on that beach yesterday morning at 8:30 am reminded me so much of hanging out at the beach with my Dad while he surfed the waves. It brought me right back to being 8 years old.

I came home yesterday and anxiously went to my computer to see if this film was still available on Polapremium. Much to my disappointment it is not and I have only one more pack of this film.

This image will eventually be available on my Etsy site.
