Julie and Craig

Julie and Craig asked me to shoot some photos of them before they moved to Tennessee. Julie has a fabulous invitation company called The Invite Girl. They wanted to remember the great times they had in Southern California and thought the beach was a great venue. Humphrey, their basset hound, wasn't always cooperative, but we did ultimately get some great photos of the three of them.

Djengo Skateboarding

My friend Dina Zaphiris, co-host of the new Animal Planet series Petfinder, decided she wanted to submit her dog Djengo to the current Old Navy and Milk Bone dog contests. The Old Navy contest you just need a cute picture of your dog and Milk Bone wants photos of a dog doing their best trick. Well Djengo's best trick is his skateboarding abilities well documented in these photos. I never shoot pets in color and she needed color for these contests and I loved how they turned out.

Bella Luna Letterpress and Claudia Laub

Anyone who knows me knows that I love paper. I'm not sure why but I just do. A couple of years ago I took a couple of classes at Otis School of Design on Letterpress and was in love with the process before and fell more in love with after I took the classes. Through a mutual friend I met Claudia Laub who is the queen of all queens in letterpress. She asked me to shoot her Christmas card photo which I did and and then asked me to shoot her dog Bella Luna for her new line of stationery Bella Luna Letterpress. I made her a really large print of Bella Luna which she currently has displayed at the National Stationery Show in NYC. I know her new stationery line is going to be a huge success at the show.

Amber & Greg + 1

I met Amber a couple of years ago when she hired me to design her wedding album. She and her husband Greg got married in Hawaii and as part of their wedding photography package received just proof sheets and negatives from their wedding. After they came home we went through the process of picking out prints, designer the album and printing two very 20x24 custom designed prints from their wedding. Amber asked me to shoot her pregnancy and I was honored to do it. We had a great time and I though the photos came out amazing. As you can tell from the photos she and Greg are just glowing.

Jennifer & Cory Engagement Shoot

I am looking forward to shooting Jennifer & Cory's wedding in a couple of weeks and over the Christmas vacation I shot their engagement photos. Jennifer and Cory both live in Illinois although they are both originally from California.

Jennifer is currently in medical school and Cory is in law school. These are my two favorite shots.

Palm Springs Photo Festival

I attended the Palm Springs Photo Festival this past March and it was a fabulous experience. It was held at the Korakia Pensione Hotel and I met some wonderful fellow photographers while I was there. I took a seminar with Veronique Vial which was very inspiring (she has never taught before so I thought of it as an extra special opportunity). I think what I like most about it was the casualness of it. The esteemed photographer Jeff Dunas was trying to take a picture of me sitting on a chaise lounge reading the festival's program and inadvertently fell in the pool (I was mortified to say the least).

I was honored that they chose a slideshow of my work to be shown at one of the evening's functions (some of the photos are highlighted above). I of course had to honor my sisters by putting my favorite photo of the three of them as the last photo of the slideshow.

I am very much looking forward to attending the second annual festival and will remember the first annual one fondly.

Jaclyn's Bridal Shower

I had the honor of shooting Jaclyn Crow's bridal shower. Jaclyn's wedding and shower will be profiled on the upcoming WE Network series Platinum Weddings. The shower took place at a beautiful home in Palos Verdes Estates overlooking Catalina Island and the Trump Golf Course. An entertainer named Prince Andrew made the shower very memorable and the husband-to-be surprised Jaclyn by showing up at the end of the shower. To see more check out this slideshow

Article in Double Exposure Magazine on my Headshot Work

Double Exposure Magazine, the online magazine portion of wrote an article about my headshot work. I was very honored that they asked and I thought the article really captured my approach to working with actors on their headshots. When I was a talent agent I loved working with actors and I get to continue to do so. I got a lot of hits on my website after this article came out.

Shogun the Dog

Suzanne Mayes, who I've known from when she worked at the Paul Kohner Agency and I worked at the Shapiro-Lichtman Agency, hired me to shoot her sister Michele's German Shepard, Shogun, as a surprise for her birthday. We planned the shoot a couple of months before her birthday and Michele absolutely loved the framed photos of her beloved dog. Suzanne was smart enough to order some wallet size photos and Michele takes them out of her wallet constantly to brag.

This one was the best photo of Shogun.

New Rare Camera in my Repertoire

I bought this rare homemade camera recently and finally got around to trying it out. I went to the Santa Monica Pier on Tuesday and then went to Disneyland on Wednesday. It is made of wood and has the shutter from a large format camera and a 35mm Pentax lens. It creates very unique looking images. The camera back is from an old Graflex 120 camera. The great thing about the camera is it has a Polaroid back so once you have the correct exposure you just pop on the film back and shoot away and you know you've got the shot.
Here are a couple of Polaroids. I hope to somehow integrate this camera into my wedding work. Haven't tried shooting a person with it yet. That will be next.

Miles' First Birthday Party

My friend Helen who I met while attending Loyola Marymount University celebrated their son Miles' first birthday with a traditional Korean ceremony called a Dol. It entails lots of food and Miles choosing from certain items on a table representing his future (pencils, money, etc). Helen made absolute sure that Miles chose the $100 bill. It was a great night and incredible Korean food. A few weeks before I took photos of them at their house in Northridge. My favorite is of the Kim Boys -- Mike, Max and Miles.
