Happy Easter!!!!

Easter is one of my favorite holidays and I have always enjoyed decorating Easter eggs. Williams-Sonoma has an incredible Egg Decorating Kit that I used last night at our little party. Special thanks to my friends Hilary Shepard, Cassidy and Scarlett Turner and Lindsey Emerson to contributing to a really fun evening. I even made a slideshow because I am so proud of all of our creations. Click the box below or click here.

Margaret Jean Pariseau Rocha

This photo makes me miss my grandmother, Margaret Jean Pariseau Rocha. She grew up in the small town of Bladensburg, Ohio.
I try to visit my grandmother's hometown every couple of years during the summer. My friends never understand why I go to such a small town in the middle America and I always have to explain to them that I want to sit on a porch in the country, watch the corn grow and witness the Amish driving by in their bugees.

This photo makes me miss my childhood and it also makes me miss the strawberry patch my family grew every summer in our front yard in Santa Monica.
My Grandma Jean (as we called her) was an amazing artist. Over the years she spent her time painting, sculpting, sewing, creating stained glass, decoupaging eggs, making dolls and quilts. Obviously she was multi-talented as an artist. I actually have two of her paintings hanging in my home along with one of her sculptures.

My aunt Maria recently wrote to me in an email "Grandma would be so proud of how you paint with your camera." I can't tell you how much that meant to me.

Once Again I Survived Vegas

Every year I attend the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. This year I shared my hotel room with the very talented Kara Frans. This photo was taken at the Pictage party on Monday night. Obviously we had a lot of fun.

The Demise of Polaroid Film

Polaroid recently announced that they were getting out of the film business. I knew that less photographers were using Polaroid but I never imagined that they would no longer be making this magical film. There are a lot of websites trying to save Polaroid film including Photojojo and Save Polaroid. A great Austrian-based company called Unsaleable sells a lot of Polaroid film including this fantastic Chocolate Film 80 which you use with a Holga Polaroid Back camera. I just love the tone and feel of this film.

Both the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times featured articles regarding this subject. Click here for the Los Angeles Times article and here for the New York Times article.

Miss Lindsey

Lindsey Emerson is not only my photo assistant on a lot of my jobs she is also like a daughter to me. Not only is she beautiful but she has such a wonderful spirit and sense of humor!!

We had the opportunity a couple of weeks ago to shoot at the private beach in Point Dume and the light was just incredible. I shot that day with digital camera and also brought along my medium format and toy cameras. We both had a lot of fun. Click the link box below to view the slideshow or click here.
