I created this album with the paper loving bride in mind.

I sifted through 80 bookcloths for the album cover and 15 different choices in end paper patterns.

Envelopments has a beautiful paper called “Repousse” and it comes in 7 colors. I chose the Dove color and used this paper for the liner for the album cover image, end paper and invitation page of the album.

Creating an album like this allows the bride to incorporate her invitation into the wedding album, which is the one thing you have after your wedding to remember your wedding by.

The album I created showcases my favorite wedding images from the last few years and instead of an actual invite page I used a beautiful poem about Love from Elizabeth Barrett Browning. The poem was printed on Envelopment’s Ecru paper.

The choices are endless and that’s what makes this album so much fun for me and for the bride.

I showcased this album at last weekend’s LA Printers Fair and it was a huge hit with this paper loving crowd.

LA Printer’s Fair was a Success

The LA Printers Fair at the International Printing Museum in Carson on Saturday was a huge success. Prepping for the show was a lot of work for me but the turnout and compliments I got during the show made it all worth it.

I styled my booth with a lot of flea market items I have collected over the years. Additional items came from a couple of Etsy shops:

ThisandThat – my adorable receipt book
Wudls – my amazing handmade wooden displays

And Nashville Wraps for floral tissue paper and shopping bags.

I look forward to next year show on October 1, 2011.

Ace Hotel and Swim Club April Rocha Happenings Kodachrome Why I Love Film

I’m Featured on the Ace Hotel & Swim Club’s Blog Today

AceHotel.Capture

I huge thank you to the Ace Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs for featuring one of my images on their blog today.  I especially like that they wrote this entry because it pays tribute to Kodachrome film.  The entry is below:

“We bow our heads in reverence to Kodachrome film’s 74 years as a photography icon. Only one remaining lab in the world still processes Kodachrome, and they will run their last prints this December. April Rocha, a devotee of Kodachrome and other endangered and nearly-extinct forms of photography, sent this shot to us and delivered the sad news. Maybe you remember photographer Steve McCurry, whose portrait of Sharbat Gula, or the “Afghan Girl” graced the cover of a 1984 National Geographic. Steve requested that Kodak allow him to shoot the last roll of 36 frames it would manufacture, and vowed to document the entire life of the roll. “It’s definitely the end of an era,” he said. “It has such a wonderful color palette … a poetic look, not particularly garish or cartoonish, but wonderful, true colors.”

If you have any Kodachrome shots you'd like to share with us, send them our way and we we'll post them on the blog. If you haven't processed them yet, better send them to Dwayne&amp'ss posthaste.
Kodachrome, we're not worthy. Here's to a more patient, flawed, passionate and saturated age.
